Devin “Trek” Thomas obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Capital University and studied at Otterbein University for his teaching licensure as a K-12 intervention specialist. An educator by day, and a musician by night, Devin has been dedicated to changing the lives of individuals young and old from an early age. Integrating his love for music and his love for education, he has spoken at numerous schools and conferences over the years. His presentation “New Day, New Energy, New Focus” focuses on not just preparation for student and staff, but also the preservation of creating a healthy and fun learning environment for all within the classroom.

JC Pohl

 Topic: Building Resilient Students

 JC Pohl is an award-winning producer, author, nationally recognized speaker, and certified counselor who has reached over 12 million people in 8,000+ schools. He has produced groundbreaking programs such as TEEN TRUTH and RISING UP, and award-winning content for companies such as Warner Brothers, ESPN, and Disney. He has also provided innovative educational content for The American Film Institute and Human Relations Media. JC has a mission to teach students to build resiliency in the face of adversity!

Eddie Cortés

Topic: Resilience and Self Worth

 For the past 20 years, school assembly speaker Eddie Cortés has been living out his life-long mission to empower students to build resilience, positive self-worth, and confidence to chase their dreams. Eddie’s mission is to help students understand that they are “braver than they believe, stronger than they seem, smarter than they think”, and worthy of their dreams. He’s had the privilege to partner with public and private schools across the United States to share his message in an interactive school assembly, I’M POSSIBLE, which helps students nurture a positive self-view and build resilience to overcome disappointment, failure, and obstacles.

We're Caitlin + Jessica

CO-FOUNDERS, EB ACADEMICS

Jessica and I co-founded EB Academics in 2014. As a teacher, I went through years of struggling to truly understand what it meant and looked like to become an empowered ELA teacher - the teacher who got to leave school at school, head out when the bell rang, and not give grading or planning a second thought on the weekends.

I remember those early years in the classroom that led me to quitting. I felt like a complete failure, and teaching began to feel more and more unmanageable. 

The biggest struggle? Learning how to create an easy framework for myself to follow when creating and planning my lessons.

And that’s where Jessica stepped in.

She was the teacher across the hall from me the year I returned to the classroom to give it another shot, and I went to her desperately seeking help and advice. Thankfully, she sat me down and showed me what she was doing - Batch Planning. 

And after years of perfecting our EB Batch Planning FrameworkSM, writing a book all about it, and helping thousands of teachers around the world take complete control of their teaching lives, we’re excited to be able to invite you to our Batch Planning Live event.
